Business Succession

What happens to the business when an owner dies, falls ill or wants out. Succession planning that joins up the shareholders' agreement, the will, the tax reliefs and the insurance — so the business survives the person.

Confidential and free to use. Ai Guy® gives you a plain-English starting point and connects you with a solicitor. It is not legal advice.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

An agreement between shareholders giving the survivors an option to buy a deceased shareholder's shares and the estate an option to sell them, at a pre-agreed valuation method, usually funded by life policies written in trust. Because neither side is obliged to sell until the option is exercised, business property relief is preserved — a binding sale contract would lose it.
